دیکھا جو کھا کے تیر کمین گاہ کی طرف

اپنے ہی دوستوں سے مٌلاقات ہو گئی

जो खा के तीरों को घात स्थल की ओर देखा

मैं अपने ही दोस्तों से मिला

jo kha ke teeron ko ghaat sthal kee or dekha

main apane hee doston se mila

Saw Jo Kha's arrows toward the ambush site

I met my own friends

ارادے باندھتا ہوں سوچتا ہوں توڑ دیتا ہوں 

کہیں ایسا نہ ہو جائے کہیں ایسا نہ ہو جائے

मैं इरादे बनाता हूं, सोचता हूं, तोड़ देता हूं

ऐसा न हो, ऐसा न हो

main iraade banaata hoon, sochata hoon, tod deta hoon

aisa na ho, aisa na ho

I make intentions, I think, and I break them

May it not happen, may it not happen

احباب کا شکوہ کیا کیجئے خود ظاہر و باطن ایک نہیں 

لب   اوپر اوپر   ہنستے   ہیں   دل اندر اندر روتا ہے

क्या आप अपने दोस्तों के बारे में शिकायत करते हैं?

होठों पर मुस्कान है और दिल अंदर ही अंदर रोता है

kya aap apane doston ke baare mein shikaayat karate hain?

hothon par muskaan hai aur dil andar hee andar rota hai

Do you complain about your friends?

The lips smile up and the heart cries inside

الٰہی ایک غم روزگار کیا کم تھا 

کہ عشق بھیج دیا جان مبتلا کے لیے

भगवान, यह कितना दुखद काम था

उस इश्क़ ने पीड़ित आत्मा के लिए भेजा

bhagavaan, yah kitana dukhad kaam tha

us ishq ne peedit aatma ke lie bheja

God, what a sad job it was

That Ishq sent for the suffering soul

ہاتھ رکھ رکھ کے وہ سینے پہ کسی کا کہنا 

دل سے درد اٹھتا ہے پہلے کہ جگر سے پہلے

अपने सीने पर हाथ रखकर किसी से कहते हैं

दर्द जिगर से पहले दिल से पैदा होता है

apane seene par haath rakhakar kisee se kahate hain

dard jigar se pahale dil se paida hota hai

He says to someone by placing his hand on his chest

Pain arises from the heart before the liver

وفا کا لازمی تھا یہ نتیجہ

سزا اپنے کیے کی پا رہا ہوں

यह परिणाम वफादारी के लिए अनिवार्य था

मुझे मेरे कर्मों की सजा मिल रही है

yah parinaam vaphaadaaree ke lie anivaary tha

mujhe mere karmon kee saja mil rahee hai

This result was mandatory for loyalty

I am being punished for my actions

تم ہی نہ سن سکے اگر قصۂ غم سنے گا کون

کس کی زباں کھلے گی پھر ہم نہ اگر سنا سکے

सुन नहीं सकते तो कौन सुनेगा दु:खद कथा?

किसकी जुबान खुलेगी तो हम सुन नहीं सकते

sun nahin sakate to kaun sunega du:khad katha?

kisakee jubaan khulegee to ham sun nahin sakate

If you can't listen, who will listen to the sad story?

Whose tongue will open then we cannot hear

محو کار دیں ہوں میں بوریا نشیں ہوں میں 

راہزن نہیں ہوں میں تخت و تاج کیا کروں

मुझे ऊबन हो चुकी है

मैं आवारा नहीं, तख्त और ताज का क्या करूं?

mujhe ooban ho chukee hai

main aavaara nahin, takht aur taaj ka kya karoon?

I am bored

I am not a wanderer, what should I do with the throne and the

 crown?

آیا نہ ان کو عہد ملاقات کا لحاظ 

ہم نے بھی کوئی چاہ نہ کی ہم بھی چپ رہے

चाहे वे नियुक्ति पर विचार करें या नहीं

हमें कुछ नहीं चाहिए था, हम चुप रहे

chaahe ve niyukti par vichaar karen ya nahin

hamen kuchh nahin chaahie tha, ham chup rahe

Whether or not they consider the appointment

We didn't want anything, we kept quiet

سنا ہے اس طرف سے بھی جناب عشق گزریں گے 

مری ہستی نہ اڑ جائے غبار کارواں ہو کر

सुना है मिस्टर इश्क इस पार भी गुजरेगा

मुर्दे को धूल बनकर उड़ना नहीं चाहिए

suna hai mister risk is paar the Gujarati

murde ko dhool banakar udana nahin chaahie

I have heard that Mr. Ishq will pass through this side as well

The dead person should not fly away as dust

ہم ہی میں تھی نہ کوئی بات یاد نہ تم کو آ سکے

تم نے ہمیں بھلا دیا ہم نہ تمہیں بھلا سکے

हम अकेले थे और आपको कुछ भी याद नहीं आ रहा था

आप हमें भूल गए, हम आपको भूल नहीं पाए

ham akele the aur aapako kuchh bhee yaad nahin aa raha tha

aap hamen bhool gae, ham aapako bhool nahin pae

We were alone and you could not remember anything

You forgot us, we could not forget you

رونق بزم بن گئے لب پہ حکایتیں رہیں

دل میں شکایتیں رہیں لب نہ مگر ہلا سکے

रौनक बिज़म के होठों पर कहानियाँ थीं

दिल में शिकवे थे, पर लब न हिल सके

raunak bizam ke hothon par kahaaniyaan theen

dil mein shikave the, par lab na hil sake

Stories were on the lips of Roanak Bizm

There were complaints in the heart, but the lips could not move

ایسا ہو کوئی نامہ بر بات پہ کان دھر سکے

سن کے یقین کر سکے جا کے انہیں سنا سکے

अगर ऐसा है तो कोई मामले की सुनवाई कर सकता है

यदि आप इस पर विश्वास कर सकते हैं, तो इसे सुनें

agar aisa hai to koee maamale kee sunavaee kar sakata hai

yadi aap is par vishvaas kar sakate hain, to ise sunen

If so, someone can listen to the matter

If you can believe it, listen to it

اہل زباں تو ہیں بہت کوئی نہیں ہے اہل دل

کون تری طرح حفیظؔ درد کے گیت گا سکے

भाषा के लोग बहुत हैं, लेकिन दिल के लोग नहीं हैं

हाफ़िज़ दर्द के गाने कौन गा सकता है

bhaasha ke log bahut hain, lekin dil ke log nahin hain

haafiz dard ke gaane kaun ga sakata hai

There are many people of language, but there are no people of heart

Who can sing the songs of Hafeez Dard

اک بار پھر وطن میں گیا جا کے آ گیا

لخت جگر کو خاک میں دفنا کے آ گیا

एक बार फिर वह अपने वतन लौट आया

लच्छ जिगर धूल में दबने आया

ek baar phir vah apane vatan laut aaya

latch jigar dhool mein dabane aaya

Once again he went back to his homeland

Lacht Jigar came to be buried in the dust
